There was no whirlwind romance and I didn’t feel any deep emotions come through when they were together. The love arc between Kate and Corwin Just fell a bit flat for me. This did ensure that you keep reading Until the end of the book to find out who the true enemy is. The antagonist changes throughout the novel as the plot develops and the characters learn more.
The plot was well written in parts and there are plenty of twists and turns that I did not find predictable. I didn’t feel an emotional bond with her or any of the other characters, which unfortunately made me unbothered with what happened to them. Although she sounds quite intriguing I felt Kate’s character was quite one dimensional. The story focuses on Kate Brighton a wilder who can control the minds of animals. Onyx and Ivory is the newest Fantasy read by author Mindee Arnett whose other novels include A Nightmare Affair and Proxy. With their paths one more entangled, Kate and Corwin must put the past behind them to face the new threat of drakes that attack in the daylight and the darker menace behind them! Kate’s first love, the boy she swore to forget after he condemned her father to death. The only survivor Corwin Tormane, the son of the High King. Her magic leads her to a caravan massacred by drakes.
